Family holidays should have a signature drink – why not try a Hanukkah Punch? According to my neighbor, no Jewish holiday would be complete without Manischewitz. Together we came up with a punch. Perfect for a party where you don’t have time to serve individual cocktails and you still want everyone to have a good time. The adults can enjoy the festival of lights with a little spirits. The Hanukkah Punch will serve 8-12 depending on how strong you make it and how large your servings are.
Now I am not saying alcohol makes things better, but it sure helps. This recipe should be pretty easy to make since a lot of the items will already be on hand. I am not going to promise this punch is the exact recipe that we ended up serving because we made up as we went. The measurements are pretty close.
For Hanukkah Punch you will need:
- 1 bottle Manischewitz grape wine
- 4-6 shots of Brandy
- Pineapple Juice 4-6 ounces
- Apple
- Grapes
- Orange
- Lemon
- Lime
- Sprite or 7-Up
- Stemless Wine Glasses
- Straws and napkins optional
- Cut up the apple and pour some of the soda over the top. Toss it into the bottom of the serving pitcher or punch bowl. It will keep it from turning brown.
- Slice half of the lime and lemon into chunks and the other half into slices for garnishes. Toss the chunks into the serving container.
- Peel the oranges and put them in punch bowl. Pour Brandy and wine on top. Let the fruit soak. The longer it soaks the tastier it will be. (ours did not soak long)
- Add the pineapple juice.
You can pre-garnish your glasses with lime and lemon wedges and site a bucket of ice nearby. I use plastic stemless wine glasses that I ordered from Oriental Trading Company. (I blog for them but they did not sponsor this post.) To serve the Hanukkah Punch fill each glass with a few pieces of fruit and about 1/2 way with the punch. Drop in a few cubes of ice and fill remaining area with soda. Sit back and enjoy!
