Heavenly hash cake brownies are on of my favorite southern treats. No, they do not have any hash in them and they are apparently named after an ice-cream. You might know them as Rockie Road Brownies too and they are a diet breaking dessert for sure. There is even a Heavenly Hash Day on February 2nd. There is pretty much a day for everything!
Ingredients for Heavenly hash cake brownies
- Eggs, beaten, four
- Granulated sugar, 2 c
- Flour, 11⁄2 c
- Vanilla extract, 1 tsp
- Margarine, 1 c
- Cocoa, 1/3 c
- Pecans, chopped, 11⁄2 c
- Miniature marshmallows, 6 1⁄4 oz
Instructions for Heavenly hash cake brownies:
Combine eggs, sugar, flour and vanilla extract. Melt margarine and add cocoa. Add to egg mixture and beat well. Add nuts. Bake in a 9”x13” pan at 350°F for 25 to 30 minutes.
As soon as cake is removed from oven, cover with marshmallows. Return pan to oven until marshmallows are slightly melted. This will take a couple of minutes. If you like the toasted taste you can leave them in until the marshmallows brown slightly. Pour Chocolate Frosting over marshmallows and cool before cutting.
Heavenly Hash Chocolate Frosting recipe:
• Margarine, melted, 1⁄2 c
• Milk, 1/3 c
• Cocoa, 3 Tbsp
• Confectioners’ sugar, 16 oz
• Vanilla extract, 1 tsp
- In a medium sauce pan, combine margarine, buttermilk, and cocoa powder. Cook until boiling.
- Remove from heat and add sugar and vanilla. Let the icing to cool for 15 minutes.
- Pour icing over almonds and marshmallows. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
